Luprodex® is a brand of leuprolide acetate for injection (depot), a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist, manufactured in India by Bharat Serums and Vaccines Limited. According to the US prescribing information for the same active ingredient in depot form (Lupron Depot®), leuprolide acetate depot is indicated for advanced prostate cancer, and the lower strengths for endometriosis and uterine fibroids with iron therapy. Indications for Luprodex in India are defined by its approved pack insert and the Indian regulator. The decision to prescribe leuprolide acetate, including patient selection, dose and monitoring, rests entirely with the treating physician. This page provides sourcing and procurement information for hospitals and pharmacies, not clinical or treatment guidance.

As both a trusted medicine distributor in Delhi and a licensed pharmaceutical distributor in Delhi, A.K. Pharma supplies genuine Luprodex® (leuprolide acetate) Leuprolide acetate 3.75 mg (Depot) and Leuprolide acetate 11.25 mg (3-month Depot) and Leuprolide acetate 22.5 mg (3-month Depot) depot injection to hospitals, oncology centres and pharmacies across India. Buyers comparing pharmaceutical distribution companies and wholesale pharmaceutical distributors can also browse our full product range and the cancer medicines category. Supply is in bulk/wholesale quantities only.

What is Luprodex (Leuprolide Acetate)?

Luprodex contains leuprolide acetate, a synthetic GnRH agonist supplied as a lyophilised depot powder with a 2 mL ampoule of diluent, for intramuscular or subcutaneous use as printed on the carton. The Luprodex Depot cartons list 11.25 mg and 22.5 mg (3-month depot) and 3.75 mg strengths.

How it works, according to the label: The reference label describes leuprolide acetate as a GnRH agonist that, given continuously, suppresses pituitary gonadotropins and lowers sex-hormone levels, with a temporary rise in testosterone (tumor flare) in the first weeks in prostate cancer.

Indications as Listed in the Reference Label

The current US prescribing information for undefined (DailyMed) lists the following. Indications in India may differ and are defined by the Indian regulator and the Luprodex pack insert.

  • Per the Lupron Depot labels for the same active ingredient: advanced prostate cancer (depot strengths for 1-, 3-, 4- and 6-month administration)
  • Per the Lupron Depot 3.75 mg and 11.25 mg labels: management of endometriosis, including pain relief and reduction of endometriotic lesions
  • Per the same labels: use with iron therapy for preoperative hematologic improvement of women with anemia caused by uterine fibroids
  • The endometriosis labels state a limit on total duration of therapy because of bone mineral density concerns
  • The indications and approved strengths for Luprodex itself are those in the Luprodex pack insert and the Indian regulator’s approval

Clinical Studies and Evidence

The reference Lupron Depot labels summarise open-label studies in advanced prostate cancer that measured suppression of serum testosterone to castrate range (the 22.5 mg label reports castrate-range suppression within 30 days in 87 of 92 patients) and, for the lower strengths, controlled studies in endometriosis in which monthly 3.75 mg for six months was comparable to danazol. Luprodex is a different manufacturer’s product; its own pack insert and Indian approval govern. Full results are in the DailyMed prescribing information. Evidence is cited for information only and is not a recommendation for any patient.
